What to Expect During Your DOT Exam
A FMCSA Certified Medical Examiner will perform your examination as required by FMCSA DOT Law for commercial driver's license. Your medical history will be reviewed, and you will be asked to list any over-the-counter and prescription drugs you currently take. Please bring in any current prescription you may have from your healthcare provider. Your certified medical examiner will also perform the following tests, and others if needed.
• Blood pressure test
• Vision test
• Eye, throat, mouth, and ear examination
• Aural heart and lung examination
• Check for deformities of the spine
• Neurological examination
• Check for abdominal abnormalities
• Hernia check
After the physical examination is complete, your certified medical examiner will discuss any medical condition from your past and current medical conditions you may have which could affect your ability to drive. Based on your past and current history, as well as the findings on physical examination the certified medical examiner will determine the certification period and issue a Medical Examiner's Certificate.
If the certified medical examiner determines that you meet the criteria for a medical certification without limitations you will be given a drivers medical certificate for two years. It is recommended you return here in two years, for another DOT physical exam to maintain your commercial drivers license. Ask about our discount for returning drivers!
The certification period is determined by FMCSA DOT criteria based on your past and current medical history, as well as current physical findings on your examination and you may qualify for a certification period less than two years. If you wear corrective lens, and you pass the vision portion of the exam, the medical examiner will issue you a Medical Certification to drive with a corrective lens indicated. Drivers are rarely disqualified from driving, the certified medical examiner at Dr. Lance Audirsch Chiropractic and Acupuncture will give you every opportunity to take corrective action in order that you may be given a temporary CDL license. If current physical findings indicate you have serious medical issues and you need medical attention your certified medical examiner will make appropriate recommendations for you to see a Physician and return for a follow up.
Dr. Lance Audirsch Chiropractic and Acupuncture now offers FMCSA DOT Certified Medical Examinations in a private and comfortable setting as well as truck parking for your rig. If you require a FMCSA DOT Certified Medical Exam to renew your CDL, representatives are standing by to schedule an appointment.

A DOT exam is a simple and hassle-free three-step process that involves taking your medical history, performing the exam, and filling out all the necessary paperwork.
To provide an idea of your general health and family background, you'll be asked to fill out a brief one-page medical history detailing past illnesses, diseases that run in your family, and your overall health.
Once you’ve provided your medical history our team will review the information you’ve provided, go over any medical conditions you may have, and perform a basic urinalysis test. As part of the exam, he’ll also:

The final step in the process is the paperwork. Once your medical history and exam are complete, the office will fill out all the necessary paperwork to process the exam results. When you leave the office, you'll get a copy of the exam to take with you when you get your CDL, and a second copy to give to your company. We’ll also keep a scanned copy of the exam in your file at the office. And after all the paperwork has been processed, you'll get your very own DOT medical card to keep with you at all times when you're driving.
Note: If you need a copy of the DOT exam faxed to your company, please have the fax number handy.
